Embark on a scenic, self-guided canoe adventure along the South Branch of the Root River in Lanesboro, Minnesota. Our most popular route begins at the historic Old Barn Resort and winds through more than 7 miles of peaceful riverway, ending just above the scenic Lanesboro Dam at Riverview Campground. This relaxing 2.5–3 hour paddle features gentle currents and stunning bluff country views, making it perfect for both beginner and experienced paddlers. Root River Outfitters offers some of the most popular canoe rentals in Lanesboro, MN, giving visitors a relaxing way to experience the scenic Root River.

Canoe Rental Price: $60.00

$60.00 for up to 2 people, plus $10 per additional person. Maximum capacity: 4 people per canoe and a total combined weight not to exceed 650 lbs.

Launch Times:

Monday–Saturday: 10 AM | 12 PM | 1 PM | 2 PM

Itinerary:

Arrive and park in front of Root River Outfitters at least 15 minutes before your scheduled launch time.
Shuttles depart on the hour and cannot wait for late arrivals.
Guests will follow the shuttle driver to the designated parking location at the launch point.
Before departure, the shuttle driver will review important trip details and safety information.
At the conclusion of your kayaking trip, please return all paddles and life jackets to Root River Outfitters (101 Parkway Ave S, Lanesboro, MN).
All rental equipment must be returned by 5 PM.
